The Family

Ledwith.org is a family site, so it seemed only fair to introduce the family. This page will grow over time as more of us set up our own corners of the internet, and as I convince people to let me write about them.

Edward

Edward is our oldest, and he got the math gene that apparently skipped me somewhere around my fourth Calculus class. He’s studying aerospace engineering at the Florida Institute of Technology, with a minor in computational mathematics, and he plans to stay on for a master’s degree in flight mechanics and controls. In his own words, he’s fascinated by how math and physics come together to make complex systems work, especially in flight dynamics and control.

His projects are the kind that make a proud dad nod along and then quietly go look things up: a senior capstone team building a system that autonomously detects and intercepts drones, satellite constellation simulations, and a machine learning model that spots faults in a spacecraft’s reaction wheels. When he isn’t doing that, he’s refereeing hockey and lacrosse games, which may be the more stressful job.
